Such systems, penalizing at-fault accidents by premium surcharges and rewarding claim-free years by discounts, are called bonus-malus systems (BMS) in Europe and Asia. With the current deregulation trends that concern most insurance markets around the world, many companies will need to develop their own BMS. The main objective of the book is to provide them models to design BMS that meet their objectives. Part I of the book contains an overall presentation of the pros and cons of merit-rating, a case study and a review of the different probability distributions that can be used to model the number of claims in an automobile portfolio. In Part II, 30 systems from 22 different countries, are evaluated and ranked according to their `toughness' towards policyholders. Four tools are created to evaluate that toughness and provide a tentative classification of all systems. Then, factor analysis is used to aggregate and summarize the data, and provide a final ranking of all systems. Part III is an up-to-date review of all the probability models that have been proposed for the design of an optimal BMS. The application of these models would enable the reader to devise the system that is ideally suited to the behavior of the policyholders of his own insurance company. Finally, Part IV analyses an alternative to BMS; the introduction of a policy with a deductible.

Preview link: http://books.google.com/books?id=2jlTrWbjAyYC&printsec=frontcover&dq=insurance&hl=&cd=18&source=gbs_api/b>

This Book was ranked 18 by Google Books for keyword insurance.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15615321384453430045noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2820273933810556076.post-1936997167859271692016-09-25T22:45:00.001+07:002016-09-25T22:45:04.880+07:00Washington Insurance Law

Washington Insurance Law

Washington Insurance Law discusses the major concepts of insurance practice and lays the foundation for understanding various, more complex types of insurance and insurance disputes.

By: "Thomas V. To this aim, the Handbook offers a truly international collection of essays. Highly renowned experts analyze the key topics currently under international discussion and development. While representing a diversity of national jurisdictions, the focus lies on the largest insurance jurisdictions (USA, UK and Germany) but newly important jurisdictions like Brazil and China are considered as well a most valuable and important contribution to international insurance law literature.' Manfred Wandt, Director of the Insurance Law Institute, Goethe-University Frankfurt, Germany 'This Research Handbook is published at an opportune time. A global review of insurance law and regulation is underway. Much reform happens locally with little reference to developments elsewhere and this Research Handbook brings the strands together. It is a comprehensive review by distinguished authors from different backgrounds including both leading academics and practitioners. They consider the definitions of insurance, its economic underpinnings, comparative law and regulations, actual and proposed reforms, the effects on underwriting and claims and how insurance is studied and taught. Good laws and regulation benefit the market and its customers. Bad laws and regulation do the opposite. This book is required reading for all involved in the reform process.' David Hertzell, Law Commissioner 'Globalisation has had no greater impact in the commercial world than on insurance, the law which governs it and the risks it seeks to address. Those who inspired this publication and the contributing authors, are to be thanked for providing such a necessary and useful reference source. It covers so much of what insurance professionals need to be aware of in the insurance/law world of the twenty first century.' Michael Gill, President of the International Insurance Law Association Given its economic importance, insurance is a field that has been underserved as an area of academic study. This detailed book provides much needed coverage of insurance law and regulation in its international context. Produced in association with Lloyd's, it draws on the expertise both of academics and practising lawyers. Containing 30 comprehensive chapters, it provides in-depth studies on key areas, such as the role of international organisations, the judicial interpretation of insurance contract clauses and transnational regulatory recognition. It also provides thorough introductions to important jurisdictions, including the EU, US and Japan as well as focusing on newly emerging economies such as China and Brazil. Specialist topics covered include regulation by and of Lloyd's, the tort of bad faith in the US, microinsurance and takaful insurance. This well-documented resource will appeal to academics and students in insurance law and regulation, policymakers and private practice lawyers. The book also aims to stretch the imagination of anyone with an interest in insurance law and regulation, providing detailed analysis and avenues for further investigation.

Preview link: http://books.google.com/books?id=uQapa7YvSQwC&printsec=frontcover&dq=insurance&hl=&cd=28&source=gbs_api/b>

This Book was ranked 28 by Google Books for keyword insurance.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15615321384453430045noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2820273933810556076.post-62832056662851685052016-09-24T22:45:00.000+07:002016-09-24T22:45:00.750+07:00Maryland Motor Vehicle Insurance

Maryland Motor Vehicle Insurance

In Maryland Motor Vehicle Insurance, lawyer and insurance specialist Andrew Janquitto analyzes Maryland statutory law and the state's uncommon insurance program.

By: "Andrew Janquitto"

Category: "Law"

Language:en

Published on 2015-12-02 by LexisNexis

The complex body of law covering motor vehicle insurance in Maryland contains many provisions unique to the state. This book is the first published in England to devote itself to a detailed analysis of the choice of laws rules in the E.C. Insurance Directives. The private international law rules of the E.C. Insurance Directives deal with the applicable law to insurance contracts covering risks situated within the EU. They do not deal with the applicable law to reinsurance contracts and insurance contracts covering risks situated outside the EU. This should be ascertained by reference to the choice of laws provisions in the 1980 Rome Convention on the law applicable to contractual obligations. Detailed discussion of these rules is also provided, and proposals for reform are suggested.

Preview link: http://books.google.com/books?id=8vcyBtBd5PUC&printsec=frontcover&dq=insurance&hl=&cd=37&source=gbs_api/b>

This Book was ranked 37 by Google Books for keyword insurance.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15615321384453430045noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2820273933810556076.post-72008870731432800112016-09-21T22:45:00.000+07:002016-09-21T22:45:06.922+07:00Private Voluntary Health Insurance in Development

Private Voluntary Health Insurance in Development

This volume is the third in aseries of in-depth reviews of the role of health care financing in providing access for low-income populations to needed healthcare, protecting them from the impoverishing effects of illness, and addressing the ...

By: "Alexander S. It examines how the industry controls our institutions and daily lives in ways that are largely invisible, and how it thereby functions as a form of government beyond the state. Drawing on extensive ethnographic research on industry practices, the work penetrates the complexities of the insurance industry and demonstrates why it is such a powerful and pervasive institution. The authors advance the concept of moral risk as they consider how insurance companies partner with governments and corporations in the negotiation of economic policy. In effect, Insurance as Governance documents liberal theory at work. It offers a major case study of liberal governance beyond the state and explores such larger issues as how insurance is increasingly liberal rather than welfarist in orientation, and how insurance is the vanguard of liberalization in governance throughout postindustrial societies. Wide-ranging in scope and original in approach, the text provides a sophisticated integration of empirical data and theoretical approaches relating to insurance, risk, governance, and security.

Preview link: http://books.google.com/books?id=FA8XcNjUDJMC&printsec=frontcover&dq=insurance&hl=&cd=26&source=gbs_api/b>

This Book was ranked 26 by Google Books for keyword insurance.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15615321384453430045noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2820273933810556076.post-16217747341297367952016-09-16T22:45:00.000+07:002016-09-16T22:45:02.936+07:00Free for All?

Free for All?

This book collects in one place for the first time results previously dispersed through many journals over many years.

By: "Joseph P. For three- or five-year periods the experiment measured both use and health outcomes in populations carefully selected to be representative of both urban and rural regions throughout the United States. Participants were enrolled in a range of insurance plans requiring different levels of copayment for medical care, from zero to 95 percent. The researchers found that in plans that reimbursed a higher proportion of the bill, patients used substantially more services - indeed, those who paid nothing used 40 percent more services than those required to pay a high deductible - but the effect on the health of the average person was negligible. In addition, participants who were assigned at random to a well-established health maintenance organization used hospitals substantially less than those in the fee-for-service system, again with no measurable effect on the health of the average person. This book collects in one place for the first time results previously dispersed through many journals over many years. Drawing comprehensive, coherent conclusions from an immense amount of data, it is destined to be a classic work serving as an invaluable reference for all those concerned with health care policy - health service researchers, policymakers in both the public and the private sectors, and students.

Preview link: http://books.google.com/books?id=SVUJ4W9Lk5IC&printsec=frontcover&dq=insurance&hl=&cd=6&source=gbs_api/b>

This Book was ranked 6 by Google Books for keyword insurance.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15615321384453430045noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2820273933810556076.post-47574784514834374822016-09-15T22:45:00.001+07:002016-09-15T22:45:00.199+07:00Title Insurance

Title Insurance

Comprehensive yet practical, this book provides the expert tools and essential information for transactional real estate attorneys who need to understand the complexities of title insurance coverage.

By: "James L.
